From cuddles with therapy animals to a heartfelt toy drive and custom holiday gifts, the SF SPCA invites the community to celebrate the season while supporting animals in need.

SAN FRANCISCO (December 11, 2024) – The San Francisco SPCA is spreading joy this holiday season with the 38th Annual Holiday Windows at Macy’s Union Square, featuring a variety of festive events and activities. Adorable cats and dogs, available for adoption, will delight visitors Wednesdays through Sundays from 12–6 p.m. through December 29, 2024. Guests can celebrate the animals in their lives while supporting the SF SPCA’s mission to improve the lives of animals in need. For full event details, visit sfspca.org/holiday.

Holiday Highlights

Snuggle with Animal Assisted Therapy Ambassadors
Visitors can interact with SF SPCA Animal-Assisted Therapy Animals, including dogs of all sizes and even a giant rabbit. Volunteer animals will vary each day of Winter Walk, but all will bring a little extra holiday cheer to Union Square.

  • Saturday, December 14, 12–4 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 15, 12–5 p.m.
  • Friday, December 20, 2–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 21, 12–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 22, 12–5 p.m.

Shelter Animal Toy Drive
Spread holiday magic to shelter animals waiting for their forever homes. On Saturday, December 14, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., donate new cat or dog toys at the SF SPCA tent in Winter Walk (Stockton at O’Farrell).

“Our shelter animals deserve to experience the magic of the holiday season, just like pets in loving homes. Our annual toy drive with KTVU and FOX LOCAL APP is about bringing joy and comfort to animals during their stay at the San Francisco SPCA,” said Anne Moellering, Chief of Rescue and Welfare. “Every donation, whether it’s a toy or financial contribution, helps us continue our mission of providing care and finding loving homes for animals in need. We encourage our community to stop by Winter Walk and help make the holidays brighter for these deserving cats and dogs.”

Personalized Holiday Gifts
Support life-changing programs for animals while creating custom holiday gifts at the SF SPCA’s Winter Walk pop-up. With a donation, guests can personalize keychains, ornaments, or embroidered totes on the following dates:

  • Sunday, December 15, 12–4 p.m.: Keychains or ornaments
  • Friday, December 20, 2–4 p.m.: Embroidered totes
  • Saturday, December 21, 2–4 p.m.: Keychains or ornaments
  • Sunday, December 22, 12–4 p.m.: Keychains or ornaments

Free Adoptions
As Union Square becomes a festive destination for the holiday season, the Holiday Windows emphasizes the importance of adoption for families considering welcoming a new furry companion. To help more than 600 animals get adopted this holiday season, the SF SPCA is offering FREE adoptions for all adult cats and dogs five months and older. Those looking for a new best friend can view adoptable animals at sfspca.org/adopt.

SF SPCA is grateful for the support of our generous Holiday Windows corporate sponsors, including Fetch, Nestle Purina PetCare Company, and Morrison Foerster.
